Under the patronage of his excellency the Minister of Labour and Social Development, Mr. Jameel bin Mohammed Ali Humaidan, Mr. Sabah Salem Al Dosari, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Labor and Social Development, opened the 3rd Career Day, organized by the Arab Open University, on Sunday 28th April 2019, in the presence of the university director, Dr. Badr El-Din Ibrahim and a number of the administrative and academic staff, in addition to several officials from the Ministry.
On the Career Day, some private organizations participated along with the Ministry of Labour and Social Development, which allocated a pavilion to introduce visitors to the vacancies in the labour market and the specialized training programmes carried out in cooperation with the Labour Fund (Tamkeen).
The event not only aimed at familiarizing students and graduates with the types of jobs that suit their specializations but also giving them the experience of how to apply for jobs, write their CVs and pass interviews. The Career Day is also an opportunity for companies and employers to recognize the potentialities of the university graduates who seek jobs.
In his statement, Mr. Al Dosari praised the Arab Open University annual initiative, which he regarded as a window for the university students to identify the needs in the labour market and the new jobs available in the light of the continuous technological advances and communications revolution, which have introduced new, specialized and non-traditional jobs in the labour market. He also pointed out that this annual initiative accelerates the graduates’ pace of being recruited at the right positions.
In the same vein, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Labour and Social Development confirmed the Ministry's support for such initiatives, which embody the social partnership that is geared toward introducing both the undergraduates and the graduates to the requirements of the labour market. He also commended the positive participation of the private sector in this event and in other job fairs, especially the ones organized by the Ministry of Labour and Social Development throughout the year.
Likewise, the university director expressed his appreciation to the Minister of Labour and Social Development for sponsoring the event, highlighting the efforts exerted by the Ministry not only to strengthen the relationship between universities and the private training institutions on the one hand and the private companies and institutions on the other, but also to help integrate the national experts in the local market.
Finally, Mr. Al Dossari and the university director toured the pavilions of the participants and thanked them for their participation and support for the 3rd Career Day held at the Arab Open University.
