AOU and ALECSO concluded the forum of Distance Teaching and Learning during Emergencies and Crises
Under the patronage and participation of the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Arab Open University (AOU), His Royal Highness Prince Abdulaziz bin Talal, the Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization (ALECSO), and the AOU concluded the joint forum titled "Distance Teaching and Learning during Emergencies and Crises: Dealing with the Coronavirus Pandemic (Model)" which held via video conferencing, and lasted for two days, 9-10 August 2020.
The forum witnessed a participation of a group of higher education officials and specialists including the Minister of Education in the Kingdom of Bahrain, Dr. Majid bin Ali Al-Nuaimi, Prof. Mohamed Ould Omar, Director of ALECSO, the Executive Director of the Arab Gulf Program for Development - AGFUND, Mr. Nasser Al-Qahtani and Prof. Muhammad Al-Zakri, AOU President, in addition to the registration and participation of more than 4,000 participants from 25 countries.
The forum addressed issues of education and distance learning in addition to reviewing and analyzing the experience of countries and governments in dealing with the educational process during COVID19 and the capacity of educational systems to meet the requirements of the new reality. The recommendations of this forum, which will be announced soon, shall give new insights to decision makers at the Arab world on how to deal with educational process under crises.
