AOU in Oman organzies viritual workshop on Job Empowerment Program for Deaf and Hard of Hearing Students
Under the patronage of Her Excellency Prof. Rahma Al-Mahrooqi, the Arab Open University in Oman organized a virtual introductory workshop on “ Job Empowerment Program for Deaf and Hard of Hearing Students".
The workshop addressed the University's vision and aspiration to empower this important segment of our society through its program “Career Empowerment for Deaf and Hard of Hearing Students".
Prof. Muhammad Al-Badi, AOU President in Oman, emphasized the role that the AOU would play in qualifying and empowering this segment, and the most important future steps it intends to implement.
Her Excellency Prof. Rahma Al-Mahrooqi gave a guiding and supportive speech for the AOU's effort to empower the deaf and hard of hearing students through higher education programs and the relevant rules and frameworks.
On his part, Prof. Dr. Mohamed Al-Zakri, AOU President in the Arab world, also presented the most important global statistics in this regard, and the achievements made during the implementation of the program, as the AOU is the first University to launch a program to empower the deaf and hard of hearing in the Middle East.
Prof. Hamad Al-Yahmadi, a faculty member of graduate studies at the University, presented a scientific paper entitled: "The Educational Status of Students with Hearing Disabilities in the Sultanate of Oman."
Najma Al-Rahbih, Head of the Special Education Department at the Ministry of Education, also participated in the workshop.
