“Information Technology at AOU is committed to establish a reliable, highly available, and secure integrated e-environment that supports students, faculty and staff in fulfilling AOU mission in developing and disseminating knowledge, widening access to education, and building a knowledge society. We strive to be service-oriented and trusted partners that support its customer. Our talent pool work collaboratively to provide a portfolio of technology services and resources that support excellence in blended and open learning, improve productivity of our faculty and staff, enhance the decision making process, and engage with communities”

Goals

The major themes of IT goals encompass advancing to a state-of-the-art eLearning environment, improving the IT infrastructure and access at AOU, and improving collaboration and communication tools. In addition, we are looking forward to constantly improving the transactional systems, establishing and improving an enterprise analysis and reporting environment, creating a portal, updating all the web sites, improving levels of service, and establishing a participatory IT governance. Specifically the IT goals revolve around the following domain areas:

IT Strategic Goals:

Provide innovative and effective education and research technologies, resources and services to achieve the mission of the University.
Provide and modernize ICT infrastructure to ensure resilient, reliable and easy access to resources and services.
Advance information and business systems and services to support operational and administrative efficiencies and effectiveness of the university.
Provide support for data driven decision making within AOU by improving data analytics and reporting tools throughout the university.
Provide effective security and risk management services and measures to manage ICT risks and ensure the confidentiality, availability and integrity of information.
Provide tools and technologies to promote effective communication and seamless collaboration between stakeholders.
Provide technical support for faculty, staff and students and continue developing ICT needed skills to support AOU technology operations.
Ensure effective and efficient use of ICT resources, capabilities and services across all AOU branches to fulfill its mission.
